Hello everyone!! I'm 24, 6ft tall (yeah, uber tall) and am about 190 lbs. I have always been a big girl, and in fact was my heaviest at around 210 when I was in 8th grade. Somehow, through starting sports in high school, I managed to drop to 175 (while I grew three inches), but I have gained it back since going through college and all that. I'm not really sure what a good goal weight for me would be. I've never seen a skinny me. I carry most of my weight around the middle and in my thighs, so... yeah. I recently started counting calories, trying to keep it around 1000-1500. I think thats okay for my height and stature, but, again, not sure. I also started Muay Thai Kickboxing recently, which if anyone needs a fun, kick your ass type of activity, I stroooongly reccomend it.Well, I guess thats it. Could I get some ideas of a good goal weight from anyone? Thanks!!~~ Andrea
ahh! another giant! I'm 6'1 myself! My ideal goal weight is 165, and according to a quick internet search, the medical recommendation for you is 140-184lbs. Although that is a really broad range and you'd be looking pretty skeletal at 140. I'd say 155 or 160 should be a good low goal, but be sure to set some intermediate goals to help you along the way. As far as calories go, I'd stick closer to 1500. There are many dangers in cutting your calories too dramatically. In addition to feeling hungry, your body may think its starving. You'll lose weight faster, but as soon as you start eating more again, you'll pack it right back on as your body prepares itself for the next bout of starvation. Remember that your ultimate goal is a change in lifestyle and not just a temporary diet. Choose changes that you can not only live with, but embrace for the long term.Good luck!!
Yay! *high five* It's great to see another tall-un' to lose weight with! :-DYeah, theres no way I could be 140. I was thinking almost exactly around where you said, 155 or 160...so I must have been thinking something right! (I need to get a scale at some point...haha!)And about the calories, I started to realize that more when I was poking around yesterday. My main thing is staying away from fast food, because I could totally eat it every day and be okay with it, and that is noooo good. So I think if I stick to no fast food, and somewhat smaller portions, than I should be doing just fine without having to think about it too much. And thanks!! Good luck to you too!!
I'm 5'10.5" (I cling desperately to that last half of an inch!) and my goal is 160, I topped out at 226 and I've lost 11 pounds so far. But power to ya on the weight loss, it seems that there aren't too many tall girls out there!
